Perform Servicing Tasks Faster and More Efficiently
Refurbishment of a skid and manufacturing of Graco hose reel stands
Maintaining Light Duty Vehicles (LDVs) efficiently is critical for mining operations, especially in busy workshops where time and safety are priorities. Without the proper infrastructure, servicing becomes inefficient, and the risk of operational delays increases. This was the challenge faced by a customer in Mpumalanga, whose LDV workshop lacked the necessary equipment to streamline operation.
At the customer’s LDV workshop, there was no dedicated infrastructure in place for vehicle servicing. The team had to rely on oil stored in containers, which not only compromised safety but also was not an ideal practice for such an environment. Additionally, the workshop lacked bulk facilities and hose reels, making routine servicing tasks slower, less efficient, and messier. To maintain best practices and improve the safety and speed of their operations, the customer required a better solution.
In June 2024, FloSolve was approached to assist the customer with refurbishing an oil skid that was previously used in the dragline yard. The skid was equipped with 1000-liter plastic tanks, hose reels, and pumps, but required significant repairs. FloSolve removed the skid from the site, fully refurbished it, and delivered it back to the customer in excellent condition.
Once the skid was returned, FloSolve and the customer collaborated further to address the workshop’s broader needs. To improve the servicing process, FloSolve manufactured two custom hose reel stands for the LDV workshop. One stand was fitted with brand new Graco hose reels, while the second stand was equipped with the original Graco hose reels that had been fitted to the refurbished skid. This provided the workshop with a more organized, efficient, and cleaner setup for vehicle maintenance.
Since the installation of the refurbished skid and hose reel stands, the LDV workshop has seen an improvement in its operations.
