During operation, Klüber Lubrication develops and manufactures approximately 2 000 different speciality lubricants. Offering products at this magnitude require the use of reliable machinery such as forklifts to ensure the efficient lifting and transporting of heavy materials.

The importance of forklift visibility cannot be stressed enough. Forklift lighting is the added safety precaution to help both your operators as well as working employees on the floor – especially in poorly lit work environments.

According to the OSHA regulation 1910.178(h)(2), “when general lighting is less than 2 lumens per square foot, auxiliary light shall be provided on the forklift.” In other words, if you have poor lighting, operate outdoors or at night, you need headlights.
With this in mind, the forward-thinking team, together with FloSolve, fitted the Model 793 red zone lights and Model 770 blue spotlights to all division forklifts, as specified by headquarters based in Munich, Germany. One set of lights were fitted to a 2011 Linde H18D03 diesel forklift, whilst the other was fitted to a Linde Electric Reach Truck.

The objective of the installation was to ensure compliance with Health and Safety Regulations, as well as safeguarding employees against the dangerous hazards accompanied with forklifts and reach trucks.

Workshop workers are often surrounded by noise and loud machinery and tend to wear earplugs whilst performing their duties – obstructing one or more of their senses.

This necessitates the need to equip machinery with adequate visual aids which will in turn create a safer working environment.
